The Magic of Fall Books

There are plenty of poets (Percy Shelley, Mary Oliver, John Keats!) who beautifully describe the feeling of Fall. Not to mention all of those must watch comfort Fall movies and shows. The annual Gilmore Girls pilgramage, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Vampire Diaries, Twilight, Stepmom, You've Got Mail, Hocus Pocus, Practical Magic...the list is endless.
This year, there is a new Fall book to add to the list.
Stephanie Garber's ALCHEMY OF SECRETS is the best kind of Halloween book. An adventure, mystery, romance full of Old Hollywood glitz, symoblism, myths and treasure hunts. Something like THE GOONIES meets THE DA VINCI CODE with a dash of the whimsy that is entirely Stephanie Garber.
I devoured this book like Jacks with his signature apple. The book starts at a sprint and never really slows down. The pacing is incredible. The characters are so fun, I love not knowing who to trust, and the world is filled with magic for anyone who knows where to look. Truly, such a fun idea and a nice little reminder for life.
ANYWAY, not that I'm done with that, I'm getting ready for a re-read, and busy working on my own magic, adventure, mystery book THE ETERNAL NIGHT SOIREE. After reading Alchemy of Secrets, I am so inspired to get my pacing to be as good as that was.
In the meantime, if anyone has book suggestions for super fast paced books in the vein of THE DA VINCI CODE, would love to hear them for fall/winter studying!
Hope to be blogging more because it'll soon be cold and I'll be hiding inside.
