The Verbs: Summering and Writing

It's hard to have a slow, country summer when you live in the city. But with an oceanic lake, bird sanctuary, new puppy, and miles of parks abloom with flowers, it's a little easier. Summer simultaneously feels like my most productive season and the season when I'm like, "What do you mean I'm supposed to be doing something? I'm Summering, that's the only thing."
But, it turns out, even when you're Summering, if you are a writer, you are also writing. Even if you're not writing because you're supposed to be on a break...you're still writing. Thinking about your writing or what you're supposed to do to self publish a book that's already written and you think is really good or how to make that first chapter hit harder in your newer book so everyone gets the sense that Bly is up to something...
Phew. I'm exhausted just recounting all of this thinking about writing! I guess it's more work than this little blog post which is my first piece of writing in weeks. How's it going for you, by the way? This blog writing thing. Can it take the place of social media marketing to get people to read the books I desperately want to publish?
This is a question I've pondered a lot while Summering. And, I don't have the answer. But I know that I vastly prefer blog writing to any sort of social media writing or...*HORRIFIED FACE* videos. So, if you're my one dear reader out there, and you enjoy this blog, you're in luck because there is going to be a lot more of it.
There will be rambling, and I will probably at some point try to find my footing because I did read that Andy Weir's success came down to his stellar (pun absolutely intended, please laugh) blog where he talked about his knowledgable science things and then published chapters of The Martian to his loyal fans. I don't know if I have any knowledge or skills worth sharing (other than my closely guarded eBay shopping ability), but I'm going to share what I can, keep writing, definitely keep Summering, and hope for the best.
If you're reading this and you have topics you want to see, please, please share away! I promise I'll at least think about doing it even if I don't.
Kidding.
Hope your Summering is all the verbs you want it to be,
Sarah :)
