Self Publishing and Querying Agents

Wow, it's been little while since my last post! Before I get into updates on the books, let me assure you for the die hard Beatrix Bobbit fans, another story is coming in the next week: Beatrix Bobbit and the Spring Break Staycation. Obviously, it's a don't miss story, but if you're a Beatrix Bobbit die hard fan, you already know that.
Now, if you're a die hard fan of Beatrix Bobbit, there is a really good chance you'll also be a fan of my two books! Here is what's going on with them.
PROTECTRESS
The blurb: When Luna's friend vanishes during a game, becoming the latest victim of the Evanesence, Luna searches for a way to stop the disappearances that have been plaguing the Silver Isles for too long. The search leads her to the first person who went missing, a Founder with Moon magic like Luna's. When she vanished, she left two vital clues behind. Armed with those clues and her entrusted friends, Luna searches for the missing Founder. The adventure takes her back in time to the Founding of her world, into a dream world of her own making, back to training in an elite program, to battling monsters, all while balancing new and old friendships, a long-time crush, an important Seasonal Festival and a shocking betrayal. If Luna can find the missing Founder soon, she’ll finally uncover who or what is behind the disappearances, and how to stop them at last. If she can’t? The Evanescence may take them all.
I queried this for a couple of months, but didn't land an agent. And, after a little tweaking of the story, I've decided I love Luna and Castor and the Merryweather Four too much to vanish them into the obscure depths of my computer. So, I'm going to self publish, and even print a few copies for friends and family. Maybe even leave the printed copies in various random spots to be picked up by unsuspecting book lovers. If you know a good cover artist, let me know! I have thoughts on a design, but no abilitiy to execute myself.
THE ETERNAL NIGHT SOIREE
The blurb: When Clove and her sister Fig are kidnapped, their lives are thrown into chaos for the second time in twenty years. The first time was when their other sister was taken by a rival Court during a Surprise Soiree. And, their kidnapper is none other than their sister's first love, Lord Umbra. He has been working for twenty years to get his love back, and finally has the perfect venue to stage her return: a town completely beholden to his compulsion. The only problem with this plan is a mysterious boy who shows up with no memories, and who is immune to the compulsion. If Lord Umbra succeeds in bringing his love back, the others will be trapped within his Court forever. If Clove can't stop him, she fears her sister will destroy them all.
I haven't started querying this yet, but once my beta reader gives me the final okay, I fully intend to! While leaving books around random parks sounds fun, it would be way more fun to work with an agent and fulfill a lifelong dream of traditional publishing.
Have you self published? Tradionally published? Dreamt of both? I'd love to hear thoughts!
